The Ministry of Environment (MoE) with support from the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has prepared the Environmental Impact Assessment of the Syrian Conflict & Priority interventions1 in 2014 and has ensured its integration as part of the Lebanon Crisis Response Plan (LCRP) of 2016. Since January 2016, MoE is acting as co-lead of the Energy and Water Sector (previously WASH) and is supporting the implementation of the “Environment Outcome” under the Energy and Water Sector as well as ensuring the mainstreaming of environmental considerations in other LCRP’s sectors and activities. Although considerable work has been done to date, given MoE’s limited human resources and the large-scale of work demanded by this sector, additional technical and policy support is needed.

The overall scope of work is to support in coordination, advising on environmental projects in response to the current crisis and, to the extent possible, mainstreaming environmental considerations in other sectors and activities of the LCRP.
