- GENERAL
The Environmental Peacebuilding Association (the Association) is an incorporated membership association, in the process of applying for not-for-profit charitable status. The Association provides a multidisciplinary forum to address issues related to environment, conflict, and peace. Its aims and objectives are to identify promising research avenues and best policy practices, promote rigorous basic and applied research, foster knowledge and data exchange through diverse platforms, build capacity and awareness, add value to practice, and otherwise to advance the understanding and respect for protecting the environment in conflict-affected setting. The Association’s website (site) is free for use, but please carefully read the below terms and conditions before using the site.
- ACCEPTANCE OF THE TERMS
The following standard Terms and Conditions shall manage your use of this site. These Terms will be applied fully and affect your use of this site. By using this site, you agree to accept all terms and conditions written herein. You must not use this site if you disagree with any of the Terms. If you are under the age of 18, you must have a legal parent or guardian consent to your acceptance of these Terms and your ability to fully abide by them. If you are under the age of 13, you may not use the site.
- INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS
The Association and/or is licensors own and/or license all of the intellectual property rights and materials contained on this site.
You are granted a limited license only for purposes of viewing the materials contained on this site.
- RESTRICTIONS
You are specifically restricted from the following:
- Selling, sublicensing, and/or otherwise commercializing any site material;
- Using this site in any way that is or may be damaging to this site;
- Using this site in any way that impacts user access to this site;
- Using this site contrary to applicable laws and regulations, or in any way may cause harm to the site, or to any person or business entity;
- Engaging in any data mining, data harvesting, data extracting, or any other similar activity in relation to this site;
- Using this site to engage in any advertising or marketing.
Certain areas of this site are restricted from access, and the Association may further restrict access at any time in its absolute discretion. Any user ID and password you may have for this site are confidential and shall not be shared with others.
- YOUR CONTENT
In these Tems, “your content” shall mean any audio, video, text, images, or other material you choose to display on this site. By displaying your content, you grant the Association a non-exclusive, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, translate, and distribute it in any and all media.
Your content must be your own and must not invade any third-party’s rights. The Association reserves the right to remove any of your content from this site at any time without notice.
- CONTENT AND LINKS
The Association is not responsible for the content or policies expressed of any external internet sites which may have links to or from this site.
You may link to this site provided you link to our home page and you do so in a way which indicates the link is to the Association home page and is fair and not misleading. You may not display the contents of any of this site in any other material not originated by us.
- NO WARRANTIES
This site is provided “as is,” with all faults, and the Association expresses no representation or warranties, of any kind, related to this site or the materials contained herein. Nothing contained in this site shall be interpreted as advising you.
- LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
In no event shall the Association, nor any of its officers, directors, employees, and contractors, be held liable for any harm arising out of or in any way connected with your use of this site. The Association, including its officers, directors, employees, and contractors shall not be held liable for any indirect, consequential, or special liability arising out of or in any way related to your use of this site.
You hereby indemnify to the fullest extent the Association from and against any and/or all liabilities, costs, demands, causes of action, damages, and expenses arising in any way related to your breach of any of the provisions of these Terms.
- CHANGES
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will try to provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.
- PRIVACY POLICY
The Association’s privacy policy is driven by the following principles:
- We try to foster networking and exchange, ensure a safe space for members to connect and interact, and protect your privacy.
- The Association is transparent and strives to provide clear notice and choice to you about the types of personal data collected and the purposes for which it is collected, processed, and used.
- We use personal data only for the purposes described at the time of collection or for additional compatible purposes in accordance with law.
- We take reasonable steps to ensure that personal data is accurate, complete, and current and we only collect personal data which is relevant and limited to what is necessary for the purposes for which it is collected.
- We will keep personal data for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and then we will securely delete or destroy it.
- To protect personal data against unauthorized use or disclosure we implement strong information security controls.
- We provide you with reasonable access along with the ability to review, correct, amend, or delete the personal data you have shared with us.
The Association does not collect or share any individualized data for people visiting this site. The only data that is collected is aggregated statistics related to visits.
The only individualized information the Association collects when you join the Environmental Peacebuilding Community of Practice is your email address. Other information provided (such as name, institution, and country) are used for vetting purposes only, but are not stored, disseminated, or otherwise used. Your email address is never displayed or otherwise made public. Only Environmental Peacebuilding Community of Practice administrators can access your email address and will do so only if they need to contact you. The Environmental Peacebuilding Community of Practice never shares your email or other data with third parties. We send out the Environmental Peacebuilding Update every two weeks to all members of the Environmental Peacebuilding Community of Practice. The Update is sent directly through the Google Group platform without seeing, sharing, or displaying your email address. Occasionally, we send out other messages to all members, when it refers to special events or announcements. With our current technology, we are unable to isolate some members from messages to all members. You can unsubscribe at any time for any reason. If you have any questions regarding your personal data, please do not hesitate to contact us at contact@environmentalpeacebuilding.org.
For members in the Environmental Peacebuilding Association, the Association collects only the personal information you provide at sign-up and that which you choose to display publicly on your profile page in the Membership Directory. You have control over who can see what information in your profile or contact you, and whether to be included in the Membership Directory. You can adjust your privacy settings at any time. Your email address is never publicly displayed. Email addresses are displayed only when you post them yourself or request it, for example, in an announcement or job posting. Your email address and other contact information may be displayed in the Membership Directory (available to other members) only if you indicate that it should be displayed there, and it is your decision how much information you want to make available in the Membership Directory. The information in the Membership Directory, including any information that you have decided to share, is available only to other members of the Environmental Peacebuilding Association. If you choose to not disclose your email address and other information, the only people that have access to it are with the Secretariat of the Environmental Peacebuilding Association. The Secretariat will only access your email if it needs to contact you on matters related to the Association. The Environmental Peacebuilding Association never shares your email address or other data with third parties. We send out the Environmental Peacebuilding Update every two weeks to all members of the Environmental Peacebuilding Association. The Update is sent directly through the Google Group platform without seeing, sharing, or displaying your email address. Occasionally, we send out other messages to all member. With our current technology, we are unable to isolate some members from messages to all members. You can delete or amend your profile at any time for any reason. You may also change which information in your profile is visible to Association members at any time. The Association does not knowingly collect information from children, and does not target its website or services to children.
The Association has a zero-tolerance policy regarding harassment.
By continuing to use the website, be a member of the Environmental Peacebuilding Community of Practice, and/or be a member of the Environmental Peacebuilding Association, on or after 25th May, you acknowledge our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, and agree to the updated terms.
- SEVERABILITY
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid under any applicable law, such provisions shall be deleted without affecting the remaining provisions herein.
- GOVERNING LAW
These Terms shall be construed and controlled by the laws of District of Columbia without reference to conflict of laws principles.
