Solidarités International is an international humanitarian aid association which, since more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their basic needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in some twenty countries, the SI teams – 2500 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at HQ, and a few volunteers - intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultural norms.
ABOUT THE MISSION
The WASH Coordinator is in charge of leading and supervising the implementation of WASH programs in line with both SI annual country strategy and the evolution of the humanitarian needs in the country. The WASH Coordinator will lead the definition of SI's in-country WASH strategy and will guarantee that WASH projects are implementing with high quality standards. She/he also supports the Field Coordinators and WASH project managers in the planning, implementation and monitoring of their WASH activities.
In Sudan, SI enjoys a very good positionning in both the Eastern and Western parts of the Country with WASH representing the main proportion of the project portfolio. WASH activities implemented are mostly emergency-oriented, combining rapid (RRM project) and static responses. SI is also lead partner in many Consortium including some with local actors.

ABOUT THE JOB
General objective:
- Strategic leadership and orientation
- Programs monitoring for SI and Consortium partners
- Development/Harmonization of a WASH toolbox
- Coordination with Consortium partners
The main challenges:
- Very volatile context, complex relationship with authorities
- Needs for structuration and and harmonization across Bases
- Support the team in updating the project follow up tools (including financial ones)
Priorities for the 2/3 first months:
- Support the Field Offices in developing area-based WASH strategies and lead SI's WASH strategy development for Sudan.
- Review WASH package (including monitoring tools) for all Field Offices, ensuring proper harmonization of tools, designs and BOQ when relevant
- Provide strategic leadership in WASH for the Consortium WASH Technical Working Group
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education / academic background: WASH related sector
Specific skills and experience:
- 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector
- A first experience on a similar position
- Expertise in WASH
- Proposal Development and reporting
- Representation and Coordination skills
- AutoCAD
- Stress resistance
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Rigorous, ability to structure
Language:
- English
- French is a plus
SI WILL OFFER
A salaried position:According to experience, starting from EUR 2860 gross per month (2600 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of USD 750.
SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment.
Breaks: During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months (with a USD 850 break allowance, allocated by Sl). To these breaks periods, SI grants one (1) additional rest day per month worked.
Insurance package: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which refunds all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.
LIVING CONDITIONS
The position is part of the Coordination team, located in Ndjamena, Chad. The post-holder will be living in a shared appartment, with electricity and internet 24h/24h. The living conditions in Ndjamena are very good, with limited to no security constraints, access to various restaurants with diverstifed food, opportunities to socialize and to practice sports (badminton, volley ball, running, swimming pool, gym, cross-fit, tennis, yoga, etc.).
During field visit in Sudan, the living conditions may vary but overall are quite good as well.
SECURITY
In Sudan: Very volatile context. Level 4. Very limited movements
Ndjamena, Chad: limited to no security constraints.
