The Norwegian Refugee Council is a humanitarian, non-governmental organisation that protects the rights of people affected by displacement.
The Norwegian Refugee Council launched an emergency response in Burkina Faso and Niger in 2019 to meet the humanitarian needs of displaced people and civilians affected by the conflict, in line with the NRC's ambition to be present where the needs exist.
As part of the implementation of our new program, we are looking for six (06) experienced Shelter and WASH Technical Assistants.
Duties and responsibilities
The holders of the Shelter and WASH Technical Assistant position will be responsible for:
- Evaluate the needs in shelters, NFI / AME, in infrastructures and in Water Hygiene Sanitation in the zones to intervene;
- Write the quantitative and estimated estimates, the plans of the works to be built or rehabilitated;
- Monitor the implementation of infrastructure construction / rehabilitation works;
- Ensure the good quality of the construction materials used by the contractors / quality of the construction and rehabilitation works of the infrastructure carried out by the companies;
- Plan and go on tours of construction sites or infrastructure rehabilitation;
- Participate in the reception of works built or rehabilitated and ensure the quality of shelters & infrastructure built or rehabilitated;
- Technically support logistics in the preparation of tenders for goods and services for the sites under its responsibility;
- Monitor and supervise activities in the field, and guarantee compliance with schedules and the quality of distribution of NFI AME shelter kits / constructions / rehabilitation of infrastructure works.
Qualifications
- Diploma of Bac 3 in Civil Engineering, Building, Public Works, Water Hygiene and Sanitation or any other diploma deemed equivalent;
- One (1) year experience in a Humanitarian or Development Organization;
- Professional experience as a Project Assistant in a humanitarian / recovery context;
- Previous professional experience in complex and unstable contexts;
- Understanding of the context and local languages of the North Center and Sahel regions;
- Knowledge of international or national organizations;
- Knowledge of project areas;
- Knowledge in the implementation of shelter, NFI, AME, Water Hygiene and Sanitation activities;
- Knowledge of IT tools including Internet, Skype, standard software (Word, Excel, Access and power point) and Autocad or Archicad drawing software;
Personal qualities
- Good communication skills.
