As we collectively continue through an extraordinary public health emergency, we recognize that everyone's lives and routines are in flux.  We are all striving to cope with a fluid and highly uncertain situation, stay healthy, and maintain our vision of a healthy, peaceful, and sustainable future. Even as we practice social distancing, we are also socializing distantly. Staying connected. Supporting one another. Toward that end, we wanted to highlight the massive open online course (MOOC) on Environmental Security and Sustaining Peace as a way to advance your learning while remaining connected and engaged.

The MOOC, which is free of charge, was launched for the third time in September 2019 in a 9-month self-paced format. During the course, students will explore the multiple roles that natural resources and the environment play in the onset, escalation, resolution of, and recovery from violent conflicts. Many of the approaches and considerations are also relevant to understanding and addressing social conflicts around natural resources and the environment. The self-paced course format will allow learners more flexibility in their schedules and more time to work through the course content. Course lecture videos and other materials will be available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Chinese, Russian, and German.

With the course ending on June 22, 2020, there is still plenty of time to join! Sign up here and join a global community of more than 20,000 that is dedicated to making natural resources a source of cooperation, rather than conflict. You can also visit the MOOC website to learn more about this course.
