Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified regional livelihood coordinator. You will be in charge of ensuring compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the whole regional area. You will contribute to the development of regional strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. You will provide support and/or technical guidance to country operations while overseeing activities with regional scope.

About the job

DRC West Africa regional office oversee the programs and strategies of 7 countries (Mali, Burkina, Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic and Guinea). The ambitious and comprehensive strategy built for 2019 requires an integrated approach, acknowledging the centrality of protection and the need for solution providing to people affected by conflict and displacement. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Coordination and representation:

  • Collaborate with relevant internal and external technical experts on issues related to FSL
  • Represent DRC at relevant coordination meetings & fora and with donors and external stakeholders
  • Ensure integration of sector activities with other DRC sectors
  • Strategic and program development
  • Ensure the development of regional methodological guidance and contribute to the development of country FSL strategies
  • Provides technical guidance on proposal or program development / Lead the development of regional proposals or programs
  • Assist in developing the projects’ Monitoring & Evaluation tools for FSL
  • Ensure technical support for quality project implementation and reporting 

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have a strong technical background while being able to understand operational constraints and needs. We also expect you to be a leader and able to build and communicate coordinated qualitative food security and livelihoods strategy. We also expect you to be familiar with project cycle and able to accompany fundraising, development and program implementation of FSL programs. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • Documented skills in project planning and design, drafting, calculation and technical writing
  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience in project development
  • Experience working with national partners, local/government authorities, and UN organisations
  • Full professional proficiency in English and French (both languages mandatory)

Desirable

  • Previous experience in West Africa
  • Previous experience in a regional office
