Myanmar: Four People, Including Official, Arrested in Deadly Land Dispute

Four people, including a village administrator, have been arrested for casualties resulting from a dispute over fertile land in Yenangyaung township of Magwe Region. The conflict started between people of the two villages over the ownership of fertile land in Yenangyaung on July 23. Armed with swords, spears, and catapults, Payekyun villagers destroyed houses on the disputed land. As the Payekyun villagers left the area by boat, their boats capsized and 40 people went missing. Later, 28 bodies were found, but 10 were still missing.
