Pakistan and Afghanistan have recently observed the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The day was established by the UN General Assembly, in 1978, to remind the member countries of the need of an international society free from drug abuse. This year was significant for the countries, affected by drug abuse, as the United Nations General Assembly adopted a comprehensive set of operational recommendations on the world drug problem.

To the seriousness of the problem, countries in the world are cooperating with each other through various platforms. However, not all countries remained successful in controlling the abuse. Pakistan and Afghanistan are among them. To the reason that they always remained engaged in the political blame game of cross-border terrorism while ignoring the real troublemaker, ‘narcotics production and it’s trafficking.’ Despite of the fact that narcotic is the main source of terrorists to generate money for their evil plans. Despite of the clearly defined objectives of the Convention on Narcotics Drugs 1961 and 1972, Pakistan and Afghanistan could not stop cultivation, trade, and trafficking of drugs.
