The livelihoods framework is a tool to improve our understanding of livelihoods, particularly the livelihoods of the poor. It was developed over a period of several months by the Sustainable Rural Livelihoods Advisory Committee, building on earlier work by the Institute of Development Studies (amongst others).This section of the Guidance Sheets provides an introduction to the framework itself. The individual components of the framework are described in more detail in the subsequent sheets in this section.
