Al-Moumin Award and Distinguished Lecture on Environmental Peacebuilding
The Award and Lecture recognize leading thinkers who are shaping the field of environmental peacebuilding, which aims to improve environmental and natural resource management to prevent, end, and recover from armed conflict. The Award and Lecture are named after Dr. Mishkat Al-Moumin, Iraq’s first Minister of Environment, human rights and environmental lawyer, and an advocate for women’s rights. This will be the 6th Award (for previous Al-Moumin laureates, see here). This award is co-sponsored with American University’s School of International Service, UN Environment, and the Environmental Law Institute.
The Awards Committee welcomes nominations for the Al-Moumin Award until April 30, 2019. The nomination should include a description of the basis for the nomination, including evidence of impact, and may include supporting materials.
