The Emergency Environmental Health Manager (EHM) is responsible for leading IRC’s emergency WASH response for the refugee influx in Mytilini. The EH Manager will have responsibility for program design, implementation, quality assurance, monitoring, staff supervision, coordination with other partners and reporting for WASH activities carried out during the emergency. The EH Manager will ensure the consistency, quality, efficiency, and accountability of WASH activities implemented across the Program area of intervention.
Major Responsibilities:
- Conduct WASH assessments, site assessments and liaise with local authorities and beneficiaries on WASH needs.
- Will design site level WASH facilities and responses. Prepare technical specifications such as statement of work/terms of reference and design documents.
- Assist in the preparation of contracts and service agreements
- Supervise EH Officer and Hygiene Promotion Officers / assistants.
- Supervise/manage the day-to-day WASH activities in the different sites: Sanitation (latrines and waste management), Water supply and Hygiene promotion.
- Ensure supervision of the ongoing construction works and insure that the quality is up to standards and delivery dates are respected as well as budget.
- The EH Manager will instigates systems and mechanisms to ensure that the construction and operation and maintenance of infrastructure is to the agreed and appropriate final deliverable quality or quantity.
- The EH Manager will ensure that the procurement departments of IRC are furnished with appropriate documents.
- In collaboration with program staff, provide guidance and technical oversight to implementing partners and other collaborating agencies to ensure that lessons of sound practice are documented and disseminated.
- Ensure that basic standards of water supply and sanitation are maintained with all target beneficiaries including the appropriate use of SPHERE standards and other internationally recognized standard sets.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 6 years WASH management experience.
- Degree in civil engineering/water/environmental and sanitation, or experience to match
- Demonstrated experience with an array of leadership managing issues and solutions, related to construction and water and sanitation.
- Strong leadership, coordination and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated success leading the work of culturally diverse teams.
- Demonstrated knowledge on various Greek environmental, hygiene and sanitation policy, standards, sphere standard guidelines etc.
- Demonstrated ability with project grants management, including project design, budget preparation, expenditure tracking, monitoring and evaluation, reporting, etc.Language
Skills:
- Fluent in English and Greek.
