The Enough Project seeks an experienced and highly motivated candidate for the position of Development Associate. This individual will assist the Development Director and Founding Director in fundraising for Enough’s annual budget. In particular, the Development Associate will support development operations, help prospect new donor leads, manage development-related record keeping, help draft reports and proposals, and contribute to special projects. This position requires excellent writing skills, nonprofit experience, and a commitment to and interest in human rights and/or peace issues.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Development Director in carrying out the regular duties of the Development department.
- Research and identify prospective foundation funders, major donors, and corporate sponsors; follow fundraising-related news, research, trends, and best practices.
- Assist with departmental projects and initiatives, such as grant proposal and report writing, donor cultivation, meetings, events, online giving campaigns, and other opportunities for donor engagement.
- Manage record keeping on programmatic activities and achievements for use in reports to stakeholders; obtain activity reports from program staff, gather relevant statistics, and collect examples of Enough’s work to inform donor correspondence.
- Monitor and update donor information in Salesforce, the fundraising database; ensure that donor records are accurate and up to date; prepare reports from Salesforce as needed.
- Help migrate donor data across various donor management and membership outreach platforms, including Salesforce, Salsa, Eloqua, and Classy.
- Manage and maintain grant files to ensure all grant-related correspondence, guidelines, and requirements are documented in the database, as well as in other files.
- Manage and maintain files on major donor and event opportunities, including donor briefs, call sheets, strategy memos, and other relevant correspondence.
- Liaise with the Center for American Progress Finance department to ensure that Enough receives proper financial information for grant reports.
- Liaise with CAP Development department to ensure that gifts are processed and that Enough is adhering to organizational guidelines and procedures.
- Draft donor correspondence—including solicitation and acknowledgment letters, as needed—and manage the timely acknowledgment of all contributions; compile letters, informational packets, and related materials in response to donor inquiries.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and one to three years of related administrative experience; fundraising, data management, writing, and/or research experience is strongly preferred.
- A demonstrable interest in and commitment to the organization’s mission.
- A results-driven, can-do attitude and successful academic or professional project management experience.
- Proficient in Google Apps and Microsoft Office; particular comfort working in Excel; database—preferably Salesforce—experience a plus.
- Exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills. A writing sample will be required for candidates who are selected for interviews.
- Comfort working with numbers and report data.
- Excellent time and project management skills; ability to complete assignments in a timely manner and anticipate deadlines with ample lead time.
- Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail in meeting ongoing responsibilities.
- Eager and curious attitude, and capable of learning quickly; ideally interested in pursuing an ambitious career in nonprofit development.
- Capable of working independently to identify and achieve short- and long-term goals.
- Dexterity to work independently, as well as in a team setting.
- Ability to keep calm and court good humor in a fast-paced work environment.
- A keen interest in professional development, with room for growth and an expanded portfolio as the candidate thrives in their responsibilities.
