NRC is planning to implement a project on replicable renewable energy to contribute towards meeting the renewable energy goals set by the Government of Jordan’s strategic guidelines for 2020. The project has two specific objectives: Specific objectives: to demonstrate the economic feasibility, technical efficiency and replicability of renewable energy at the municipal level; and to promote renewable energy at household level and encourage the mainstreaming of its applications. Given the scale and complexity of the project to be managed, a Project Coordinator is being recruited to coordinate the project in northern Jordan.
Job description
Generic Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of Shelter PM, overall budget and programmatic responsibility for the EU funded project
- Ensure the implementation of the energy efficiency project in northern Jordan according to strategy, proposal and plans developed by NRC in coordination with partners.
- Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements when implementing the projects
- Develop steps and procedures in the planning and implementation of the project in accordance with agreements with donors and NRC guidelines
- Supervise, train and develop project staff in accordance with development plans and work plans
- Monitor, evaluate and suggest changes and improvements in the project based on observations and discussions with the other CC staff and the management.
- Cooperate with relevant partners and local authorities
- Organize trainings for the project team, relevant partners and beneficiaries
Specific Responsibilities
- Manage and support the NRC energy efficiency project in northern Jordan including the project staff, as well as overseeing support functions (Finance and Logistics).
- Manage staff performance using NRC’s Performance Management system
- Maintain NRC’s position as a key actor vis-à-vis the local authorities.
- Supervise the budget lines for above activities and monitor expenditure. Meet on a monthly basis to review budget versus actual expenditure for all projects and donors funding activities.
- Act as the focal point for organising donor visits to project sites.
- Draft concept papers, proposals for new, complementary activities and for the continuation of on-going activities, in coordination with the Project Manager and Programme Director.
- Draft donor reports, in coordination with the project Manager and Programme Director.
- Contribute to the development of NRC’s strategy and priorities for the increased environmental integration into NRC Jordan programme.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience from working as a Project Manager in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Technical expertise in renewable energy
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal

We offer
- Commencement: March 2015
- Contract period: 12 months
- Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions
