The aim of this project based in Jordan is to provide Information Management support to the Food Security Cluster and its partners. 

Job description

 Position: Food Security Analyst - InternationalOrganization: iMMAPProject Title: Syria Food Security AnalysisDuty Station: Amman, Jordan 

SCOPE OF WORK

 The Food Security Analyst (International) will be responsible to ensure the quality and timeliness of food security data, assessment support, information, analysis and reporting. 

RESPONSIBILITIES  

 
  • Contributing to the overall FS analytical outputs and FS key indicators; 
  • Supporting the analysis of households, focus group discussion and key informants interview datasets by providing country -specific contextual knowledge; 
  • Assist with the data validation process and filling the gaps in data through communication with the field team; 
  • Support the project team in any type of food security analysis and research (food security and livelihoods assessments, market analysis, etc.); 
  • Assist in the revision of methodology and tools used in food security and livelihood assessments/surveys; 
  • Edit drafts to improve readability of food security updates, reports, articles, policy briefs, and chapters of all food security publications; these include quarterly briefs, website updates, etc.; 
  • Ensure timeliness and delivery of all the necessary data, and information food security reports; 
  • Develop presentation materials and reports as and when requested; 
  • Participate in internal and external events such as food security coordination meetings, trainings, and necessary field trips that relate to the food security assessments; 
  • Explore, evaluate and present new country and project funding opportunities that leverage impact and integrate initiatives and activities; support and direct related fund-raising activities with both institutional and private donors; 
  • Assist in quality control of weekly, monthly and quarterly products in terms of messaging and ensuring products are focused to their target audience; 
  • Establish leadership and personal credibility with the iMMAP team, and contribute to creating an organizational culture of accountability, responsibility and quality of services; 
  • Where appropriate, represent the iMMAP project team with national and international donors, partners, media, and participate in local community activities; 
  • Maintain effective and positive internal contacts with the Regional Representative, iMMAP headquarters officers and staff, and external contacts with the Embassy of the United States, national and local government officials, Food Security Sector/Cluster co-coordinators, international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), donor agency officials, vendors, media, and the general public. 
  • Assist in provide ad-hoc analysis and review of analysis text that are related to iMMAP products.  
  CHAIN OF COMMAND  The Food Security Analyst reports to the Syria Country Director and works in close cooperationwith, and guidance from Senior iMMAP staff.  SECURITY  The officer will follow security protocols as specified by the iMMAP Global Security Manager.    

QUALIFICATIONS   

 
  • At least 5 years’ experience in emergency response or humanitarian environment; 
  • Advanced university degree in relevant field (social research methods, development studies, agriculture, economics); 
  • Proven track record of conducting FSL assessments; 
  • Experience working in the Food Security environment; 
  • Thorough knowledge of the United Nations cluster system and how it operates; 
  • Proven track record of Capacity building and facilitation. 
  • Strong primary and secondary data analysis and analytical skills; 
  • In depth knowledge of statistical software such as SPSS and R 
  • Excellent communication, analytical, writing and presentation skills in English, with knowledge of Arabic an advantage. 
  • Familiarity with various field survey methods and techniques, food security analysis and reporting 
  • Good understanding of food security, preferably in developing countries;
