Mines Advisory Group’s work has helped more than 16 million people in conflict-affected communities in over 40 countries since 1989, giving them greater safety and the opportunity to rebuild their lives, livelihoods and futures.
This is a fantastic opportunity to undertake a strategic and senior management role in an international NGO. As one of four Regional Directors, reporting to the Director of Programmes, you will lead and manage the Country Directors of MAG’s programmes based in Sahel and West Africa to ensure the quality delivery of MAG’s operations and the compliance of grants and contracts.
The post holder will coordinate MAG’s regional strategic approach, supporting Country Directors in the development and implementation of business plans, including coordinating expansion into new countries and the development and strengthening of donor relationships. This is a challenging and varied role, offering the opportunity to use your wide-ranging management experience to influence the organisation and the wider sector. The post-holder will be expected to lead and coordinate complex networks of relationships across the region and beyond.
The successful candidate will have excellent project management, business planning and budget management skills and the ability to coordinate multiple activities at the same time. Experience of working in a senior management position in a development or humanitarian organisation is essential, and experience of working in humanitarian mine action or arms management and destruction (AMD) sector would be highly advantageous. Experience of working in this region would also be an advantage. Regular travel will be essential in this role, which could be to a MAG programme, or to meet with donors or other stakeholders – you could be in Manchester one week, visiting Washington the next, then Mali or the Democratic Republic of Congo. French language skills are also essential for this role.
This is a demanding but highly rewarding position that will be suited to a highly motivated, solution-focused and flexible manager. It will offer you the opportunity to use your strategic and leadership skills in a fast-paced environment.
