International Alert is requesting ‘Expressions of Interest’ (EOI) from qualified and experienced specialists for a "Community Economic Needs and Opportunities Assessment" to be submitted by 31 October 2016. We are looking for someone with experience in conducting economic studies in West Africa, preferably in Liberia. In particular, we are looking for someone with strong research expertise and experience of doing research in communities. International Alert is looking for consultants with the following skills and qualifications:
- Experience in conducting market analysis, value/supply chain analysis and/or economic needs/opportunities assessments;
- Expertise in research design and methodology, particularly using participatory methods and community engagement;
- Ability to work with communities in relevant local languages as well as with a diverse range of stakeholders in the value chain;
- Knowledge of the mining and oil palm industries highly desirable;
- Strong quantitative data collection and analysis skills;
- Ability to respond to comments and questions in a timely manner;
- Ability to write clear, concise reports in English.
- EOI outlining how the consultant(s) meets the selection criteria and their understanding of the ToR and methodology (see attached below);
- A proposed activities schedule/work plan, with attached timeframe;
- Consultant(s) CV(s) who will undertake the assessment;
- References of similar assignments conducted in the past;
- Detailed financial proposal in US$ (budget) based on the above tasks and deliverables.
