To honor outstanding contributions to environmental peacebuilding, the Environmental Peacebuilding Association® (EnPAx®) is pleased to present awards to leaders, practitioners, and researchers from our community.
The Association is seeking nominations for awards to be presented at the Third International Conference on Environmental Peacebuilding, to be held 19-21 June 2024, in The Hague, Netherlands. Self-nominations are welcome, as are both individual and group submissions. We will be presenting awards in four categories, covering research and practice contributions to the field of environmental peacebuilding; details on each award are provided below.

Award for Impactful Practice in Environmental Peacebuilding
The Award for Impactful Practice in Environmental Peacebuilding recognizes the exceptional applied work of individuals and/or organizations involved in environmental peacebuilding. This may include, for example, the promotion of peace through cooperation around environmental challenges; the prevention, assessment, or remediation of environmental impacts from armed conflicts; and the management of natural resources to prevent or end conflicts.
The Awards Committee welcomes nominations until December 15 2023. The nomination should include (1) a description of the basis for the nomination, including evidence of impact; (2) a biography or organizational description of the nominee; and (3) any supporting materials, which might include website or social media links, videos or interviews, and project reports.
Award nominations should be sent to awards@environmentalpeacebuilding.org no later than December 15 2023, with the subject line “Nomination for Award for Impactful Practice.”
Award for Enhancing the Environmental Peacebuilding Knowledge Base
The Award for Enhancing the Environmental Peacebuilding Knowledge Base recognizes contributions that have made a significant impact in the field of environmental peacebuilding. These may be published works or grey literature, from refereed papers to project reports. Co-authored pieces are welcome, as are contributions in any language. Submissions written in languages other than English are asked to provide an English translation where possible.
The Awards Committee welcomes nominations for this award until December 15 2023. The nomination should include (1) a copy of or access to the contribution made, (2) author/contributor biographies, and (3) a brief statement of the piece’s significance.
There is no length requirement, and portfolios or collections of work will be considered; however, the submission should form a coherent whole, and the accompanying statement should discuss the format and impact of the submission.

Award for Best Student Paper on Environmental Peacebuilding
The Award for Best Student Paper on Environmental Peacebuilding acknowledges meaningful work produced by undergraduate and/or graduate students in the field.
Papers submitted to the conference by authors who were enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student while producing the work will be considered for this award. Papers must relate to either a presentation or poster presented at the conference. Co-authored contributions are welcome; however, the lead author must be a student. The full text of the paper must be submitted no later than December 15 2023 to be considered for the award.
Award nominations should be sent to awards@environmentalpeacebuilding.org no later than December 15 2023, with the subject line “Nomination for Award for Best Student Paper.”
Award for Outstanding Early Career Contribution to Environmental Peacebuilding
The Award for Outstanding Early Career Contribution to Environmental Peacebuilding recognizes work from students and young professionals within the field. Recognized work may include academic publications, project reports, artistic productions, community outreach, activism, and more. Submissions may be co-created, so long as the primary creator was 35 or younger at the time of production. Contributions in any format and language will be considered. Submissions in languages other than English are asked to provide an English translation where possible.
