The Environmental Peacebuilding Association is seeking Visiting Attorneys (law degree holders), Visiting Researchers (graduate degree holders or professionals), Law Clerks (current law students) and Research Interns (current or recent undergraduates) to assist the Environmental Peacebuilding partnership’s research program on a volunteer basis. Responsibilities may include:
- Perform legal research, analysis, writing, and editing on a wide variety of ongoing and time-limited research projects
- Collect and post materials for the Knowledge Platform and biweekly Environmental Peacebuilding Update
- Assist with various event or network coordination tasks relating to the Environmental Peacebuilding Association
- Support events bringing together practitioners, researchers, and decisionmakers to share knowledge about topics related to environmental peacebuilding
Specific environmental experience is not mandatory. The position may be partially or fully off-site, and much work can be conducted remotely. Candidates in the Washington, DC area are encouraged to work on-site for a limited number of hours each week.
Candidates should:
- Possess superior research, writing, and interpersonal communication skills
- Have a strong desire to gain knowledge of the environmental field, as well as interest in natural resource management and/or peacebuilding
- Be focused, independent, reliable, and meticulous
- Be available to work at least 15-20 hours per week for at least 3 months
While the following skills are not required, we are especially interested in candidates who are:
- Fluent in UN languages (including French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, or Arabic)
- Proficient with GIS (for example, ArcGIS Online)
- Experienced with graphic design
- Interested in supporting organizational management and event coordination

Please note:
- Compensation is not available.
- Applications will be processed on a rolling basis.
- Candidates are asked to commit to work for a minimum of 3 months.
