The Natural Resource Governance Institute is an independent nonprofit organisation dedicated to improving countries' governance over their natural resources to promote sustainable and inclusive development.
Background
The Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) and NADEL-Center for Development and Cooperation at university ETH Zürich will host “Natural Resource Governance and Development: Policies and Practice” online advanced course, between September and November 2021.
This advanced-level multi-stakeholder course is designed to equip a pool of exceptional individuals with the knowledge and tools necessary to contribute towards better governance and oversight of natural resources for a better future.
NRGI is looking for a consultant to serve as Programme Assistant to support the Research, Data and Learning team in the design and delivery of the course. The consultancy will have a duration of 3 months.
Responsibilities & Tasks
The Consultant will be responsible for supporting the planning and delivery of the 2021 edition of the Advanced course co-organized with partners at NADEL-Center for Development and Cooperation, ETH Zurich. Under the supervision of the Senior Research, Data & Learning Officer, the consultant will fulfil the following tasks:
- Support curriculum development and adaptation
- Coordinate participants’ selection process together with partners
- Support course conveners to administrate online conferencing and learning platforms
- Populate Moodle platform with all relevant course content and material, and keep the platform up-to-date
- Produce or update multimedia course content and learning resources to support the learning experience
- Lead structured discussions among participants through the forum (MOODLE platform) and engage with them to share additional material
- Support the design of the participants handbook and other material to enhance the learning experience
- Support communication with students to send material and address IT and content questions
- Support the development of questionnaires/surveys/quizzes to assess learning and source feedback from participants and systematize data for MEL purposes
- Provide other administrative support for course design and delivery as requested
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (education, development, political science, economics, international affairs, etc.)
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (education, development, political science, economics, international affairs, etc.) would be an asset
- Experience in capacity building and/or education projects
- Experience in supporting virtual learning design and/or delivery is an asset
- Basic notions of MEL are highly desirable
- Experience working at or with universities is highly desirable
Skills Required
- Interest in resource governance topics
- Project management skills, including ability to multi-task, work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, troubleshoot and follow projects through to completion, with strict deadlines and without loss of attention to detail, budget and reporting.
- Familiarity with learning platforms, like MOODLE, social media and other platforms used for online convening, like Zoom
- Excellent English-language writing and editing
- Other languages are an advantage
Start date and duration: 1st July for 5 months.
Location: London
Compensation: TBC
Working Environment: Standard office environment when the context allows.
