Seeking Information on Monitoring and Evaluation in Environmental Peacebuilding

Environmental Law Institute

The Environmental Law Institute (ELI) is collecting and synthesizing information on monitoring and evaluation (M&E) practices in environmental peacebuilding. ELI is working with the Environmental Peacebuilding Association (EnPAx), with the support of the United States Institute for Peace (USIP), to take stock of approaches and experiences and to distill good practices in environmental peacebuilding M&E. We are seeking peer-reviewed literature, grey literature, case studies, recommendations of people to interview, or any other information relating to the topic. These materials may address environmental peacebuilding broadly, or they may focus on particular types of interventions, for example on water and sanitation delivery, addressing the resource curse, or post-conflict land reform, among others.

In addition to collecting information on various approaches, we are interested in literature that addresses particular challenges. These include, for example, the difficulty of capturing the long-term and unintended impacts of projects, the often-insecure operating environments of project sites, and the differing objectives and metrics used by environmental and peacebuilding interventions.

Please help us improve the quality of environmental peacebuilding M&E! If you have relevant information or any questions, please reach out to Carl Bruch bruch@eli.org.
