Collectively and individually their claimed mission is to work to build a better world, especially for the poor and oppressedThe project manager GP FS, is the regional representative of Caritas Switzerland (CACH) on the Global Program for Food Security. The project manager has the overall lead of a project in Mali and has the responsibility to support the communication and knowledge sharing between the projects in Mali and Ethiopia and between the region and the offices in Europe. The program is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by a consortium of international organisations under the lead of Wetlands International (WI). WI and CACH are the implementing organisations. CACH is responsible for the implementation of one project in Mali (Lac Wegnia). Another project in Ethiopia is implemented by CACH and WI together.
Principal tasks
- Co-responsible for the design of the GP FS project in Mali (Lac Wegnia region)
- Provide support for the development of the overall program at regional level (including Mali and Ethiopia)
- Management of the Lac Wegnia project in Mali: responsible for the implementation of the project in close collaboration with the project coordinator. Develop and apply appropriate project management tools, including management of finance, planning and M&E tasks
- Monitor regularly also the implementation of the project in Ethiopia
- Responsibility to support the communication and knowledge sharing between the projects in Mali and Ethiopia and between the region and the offices in Europe
- Prepare the defined reports on specific reporting templates in good quality and in due time
- Accompany local implementing partner organisations or government structures and invest in the improvement of their performance
- HR: supervise and support team members; help to create and maintain a conducive work environment that stimulates learning and innovation
- Strengthen communication and promote knowledge sharing between the different projects and consortium partners
- Provide thematic support to all projects involved in the program
- Developing concepts and thematic strategies and articles for different audiences
- Contributing to the development of inputs for policies and strategies at local, national and international level
- Networking with other actors in the water and food sectors, ranging from government and private actors, to civil society and academia
- Representing CACH regionally and at international fora
Our requirements
- Masters degree in a relevant subject
- More than 10 years experience in international cooperation, including at least 5 years in a senior project management or advisor position
- Proven experience in project management
- Thematic expertise on Sustainable Water Management and/or Food Security issues
- Exceptional networking, communication and team building skills
- Track record in collaborating with private enterprises along value chain development
- Experience with public-private partnerships
- Extensive experience working with government and private actors, especially in the field of sustainable water management and/or food security
