Save the Children is looking for a Food Security and Livelihoods Coordinator. As part of their Humanitarian Surge Team (HST), you will ensure the timely delivery of programmes as you deploy into a variety of emergencies, increasing institutional knowledge by transferring good practice and innovation from one context to another.
As the flexible, proactive and creative Food Security and Livelihoods Coordinator, you will lead on sector assessments, programme design, master budgeting and co-ordination, and will support fundraising, recruitment and procurement. With the support of the FSL Advisor, You will mentor and / or capacity build existing country programme staff and play a key role in the technical design and implementation of multi-sector cash transfer programmes, leading on market based approaches. You will also:
- Work with the Deputy Team Leader or Team Leader to develop sector response plans, contributing to Save the Children's overall response and recovery strategy
- Prepare programme and donor reports, identify supply needs, and ensure timely delivery of programme activity
- Help put in place sector monitoring and evaluation plans, and accountability activities
- Ensure our work is co-ordinated with the efforts of other agencies and governments
- Assist in advocacy activities that target decision-makers, and with media work.
To be successful, you will be supported by the FSL Advisors to have a robust understanding of humanitarian imperatives and the situation of children in emergencies. You will be a strong communicator and coordinator with impressive analytical skills, particularly in household economy and market analysis. Proficiency with cash transfer programmes and strengthening and supporting markets in a crisis is also a must, while you will additionally have:
- A background working internationally in food security and livelihoods programmes
- Previous emergency response experience, and with systems of community participation and accountability
- Experience of project and personnel management, of monitoring and evaluation, of representation, and of preparing persuasive funding proposals
- The ability to work in implementation capacity
- Strong influencing and advocacy skills, and political and cultural sensitivity.
Save the Children offers a comprehensive benefits package including a hardship allowance and, when applicable, an expensive posting allowance, 35 days annual leave, accommodation on deployment, comprehensive business travel insurance. ,up to £500 a year for routine medical treatment in addition to the insurance and long term saving plan with 3% employee/ 5% of gross salary employer contribution.
