Danish Refugee Council has been operatingin the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan.  

DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.

In Bekaa you will find one of the most historical places in the world such as the Baalbak temple. It is also a safe and relaxing environment but at the same time very close to Beirut.

About the job 

DRC is implementing a number of livelihoods projects in the Bekaa. The role of the Livelihoods officer is to provide support to  one of DRC’s livelihood projects implemented in the Bekaa, where job counseling, job referrals and job opportunities are provided with the objective of raising income levels within targeted households to provide more sustainable solution to vulnerable families. The livelihood officer will be responsible of conducting outreach to employers, identifying apprenticeship opportunities, linking job-seekers to potential job vacancies and apprenticeship opportunities.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Find proper placements for apprenticeship program through outreach to employers and generate reports on vacancies and visits 
  • Inform employers and jobseekers on labour law regulations applying to Lebanese workers, as well as to Syrian refugees  
  • Ensure publication of job vacancies and other career opportunities 
  • Work on DRC’s information management system to record relevant data of job seekers  
  • Support employers through pre-screening of job seekers and match job seekers with training and employment opportunities 
  • Interview job seekers before referring them to employers and follow up with jobseekers after referring them to employers, and/or after being hired. 
  • Support MEL team in monitoring the impact of DRC’s work 
  • Create linkages with DRC’s protection team as well as with other actors Delivering livelihood activities 
  • Coordinate with Protection Manager on ensuring protection concerns are mainstreamed into DRC’s livelihoods work. 
  • Reporting on daily, weekly and monthly basis. 
  • Any other task as may be assigned by the Cash and Livelihoods Manager

About you 

To be successful in this role you must have At least 2-3 years of experience in Livelihood sector.In this position, you are expected to demonstrate DRC’ five core competencies:

Required qualifications

  • Knowledge of the Bekaa business market 
  • Experience in dealing with vulnerable population. 
  • Bachelor degree in Human Resources, social work or equivalent 
  • Effective communication skills

Desirable qualifications

“Ideally, you will also have…” 

  • Arabic: Fluent 
  • English: good written and spoken 
  • 1-2 years in similar position 

We offer 

DRC will offer the successful applicant a 3months’ contract, you must be available to start work as soon as possible and be willing and able to work in Bekaa. 

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Nationals; please refer to www.drc.ngo under Vacancies. This position will be placed at levelC1 equivalent USD 1650.
