After considerable growth over the last 24 months we are now looking to appoint a detail orientated and critically thinking Responsible Mining Projects Manager excited about working in the responsible sourcing field and who is ready to take the next step in her/his career.

An ideal candidate will have approximately 5 years of experience. This will include experience working in mining and artisanal mining areas on the ground in developing countries. It will also include project management, research, advisory and responsible minerals and mining knowledge. The candidate must have a good working knowledge of French, which will be tested during the interview process.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS:

  • A proactive, self-starter with the ability to work in a motivated manner without constant close supervision
  • Experienced in and enthusiastic about working on the ground in developing countries (up to 30% of time).
  • Fluency in English and a good working knowledge of French are a must and will be tested.
  • Very good written English is a must and will be tested.
  • Experience working in mining and/or artisanal mining areas.
  • Exposure to mining, sustainability, supply chains and global business trends.
  • Experience in business consulting and/or client-oriented service provider work
  • Candidates with a Masters degree in a Business and Economics field are preferred, although this is not a core requirement.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position requires international travel (up to 30%) including in development countries and sometimes in mining and/or artisanal mining areas.
  • Conduct research, analysis and report/presentation writing to the best of his/her ability and to the deadline requested by the line manager / client.
  • Conduct fieldwork and act as team leader for teams in the field sometimes in mining or artisanal mining areas in developing countries (can be up to 30% of time).
  • Take on project management responsibilities, including project and contractually related liaison with clients and subcontractors. This extends to coordinating project delivery and output under supervision of the relevant line manager.
  • Present work outputs in a manner appropriate to the task and intended recipients, in RCS’ style and using the templates provided by RCS. In particular, research should be presented as close to publication standard as possible, fully referenced and in fluid prose
  • Participate in RCS Global’s IP development through our internal research and tools development process
  • Contribute to new business development work under the supervision of Directors. In particular:
  • Contribute actively to RCS Global’s regular communication tools, including industry briefing notes, newsletter, blogs, webinars, tweets etc.
  • Prepare proposals
  • Take project discussions forward under supervision or in partnership with the relevant line manager.
  • Identify, create and develop business leads and partnerships with RCS Global’s partners
  • Attend outside events as required, write briefing notes and/or report back to the rest of the team

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Support new business development, as appropriate, including proposal development, networking and responding to client enquiries
  • Gain subject matter expertise on RCS Global’s Responsible Sourcing work
  • Contribute to our global outreach and network maintenance
