Muslim Aid was established by community leaders from 17 Islamic organisations in response to the drought in the Horn of Africa. As a leading and well established faith-based British humanitarian charity, Muslim Aid's work is governed by the teachings of Islam, such as compassion, empathy, generosity and helping others in need. This is implemented through emergency responses and eliminating poverty and its causes by developing innovative and sustainable solutions that enable individuals and their communities to live with dignity.
An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Baghdad office for an innovative Country Director who will provide strategic leadership and management in developing in-country strategy and delivery of quality programmes, donor and government relations, fundraising and budget management and developing a motivated and professional team. You will ensure that Muslim Aid programmes in humanitarian relief and development assistance address the root causes of poverty and inequality in country.
We are looking for applicants who are tactful and systematic and have proven experience working internationally in development and/or humanitarian field.
As the Country Director you will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the programme are managed effectively. You will create a shared vision among all staff, of the organisation’s aims and their role in achieving them. You will use your outgoing personality and solid interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with core donors in order to maintain and increase their support and diversify the funding base of the programme.
You must be able to motivate and lead a diverse and committed staff team and provide pro-active representation within the humanitarian community, donors, government both at regional and national level. You must also demonstrate sound financial and operational management skills and have solid experience of leading and managing in insecure environments.
Using your excellent strategic and planning skills you will assist in the design and implementation of the operational structure and staffing requirements for the effective implementation of Muslim Aid’s activities. You will have the ability to anticipate and manage risks that could threaten the organisations reputation, operational viability and security.
