The FSL program manager will support the Program Coordinator to analyze the situation toward FSL in Azaz district (or any other area) and to subsequently contribute to developing new project proposals. S/he is responsible for implementing and achieving the objectives defined in the operation proposal and for overseeing operational teams assigned to the program.

The FSL program manager guarantees the good performance and the quality of the program(s) implemented, and, where appropriate, proposes adjustments or developments to ensure relevance. S/he follows the situation, proposes any further need arise and coordinates with program coordinator/ Head of mission to propose other types of activities that can be done in terms of Food Security and Livelihood.


He/she will be under the supervision of the Program coordinator and will receive technical support from him/her.

Key priorities:

  • Ensure the recruitment and training of the FSL program team
  • Implementation and follow-up of the FSL response activities
  • To ensure consultation with intended beneficiaries, local authorities to identify appropriate activities considering needs
  • Assess the seasonal and agricultural conditions in SI area of intervention and adjust the proposed approach and project calendar as needed
  • Launch the activities in a timely fashion an follow up the implementation, organize the monitoring and evaluation activities
  • Ensure timely and quality reporting and representation of SI towards relevant actors and in relevant coordination mechanisms
  • Contribute towards the lessons learnt and capitalization of FS programming in Northern Syria.
  • To define and implement the monitoring and evaluation schemes of all activities together with the MEAL program manager
  • To coordinate the local teams
  • To Analyze the FSL situation in newly accessible areas and contribute to development of new proposals by proposing a technical approach and a financial, human and logistical scope for the programs to be implemented
  • To support the Logistics Department for the purchase of programme required materials and equipment
  • To coordinate with the main FSL actors of the area to ensure complementarity and avoid overlap.
Your profile

Experience

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in a similar position, developing and implementing food security programs, in particular agricultural and/or livestock activities.
  • Experience in remote management would be a strong asset
  • A keen understanding and experience in the Middle East (particularly on the Syria crisis) would be a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in reporting and proposal writing

  • Knowledge in project cycle management
  • Strong management and training/capacity-building skills and particularly capacities to provide at-distance technical support

  • Stress management skills: ability to work under pressure, with peaks of heavy workloads

Language

  • Fluent English (written, spoken and read),
  • Working knowledge of French and/or Arabic is an asset
