The overall objective of the project is to strengthen the resilience of urban communities, including social and health institutions, in Kujang City (North Pyongyan Province) and Anbyon City (Kangwon Province). In particular the food security, health and hygienic situation in Kujang and Anbyon will be improved by reduction of untreated sewage and reutilization of the sewage waste products in agriculture.
The EU financed project started 2013, the Head of Project is responsible for the last phase of the project including the finalization of the planned activities and reports to the donor.
The position is to be filled at the earliest possible opportunity and has an initial contract duration until 30 September 2016. The deployment location is the capital Pyongyang with extensive travel to the project areas. The living and working conditions are difficult and require from the position holder a willingness to adapt.
Your most important duties are as follows:
- Technical and conceptual implementation and supervision of the project
- Provide technical guidance to the project team in the completion of the construction works
- Carry out trainings to the project technical team
- Close cooperation with professional authorities at national and local level
- Conceptual further development of the project
- Regular reporting to the Country Office and Head Office
- Elaborate reports to the donor
- Ensuring proper financial and resource planning
Your qualifications will include:
- A university or polytechnic degree in civil engineering/hydrology or similar, or several years of project-relevant professional experience
- Several years’ experience in the implementation of WASH projects of international (aid) organisations, preferably in the region
- Coordination and organisational skills, including ability to work under pressur
- Ability to cooperate and work in a team
- Good level of English
