Job Description

CCCPA is recruiting an expert to develop a guidebook on “Climate, Peace and Security Programming in Peace Operations.” CCCPA will be responsible for consolidating all contributions. Within this process, and under the day-to-day supervision of CCCPA’s Peacekeeping and Climate, Peace and Development (CPD) teams.

The main tasks are as follows:

  • Develop a guidebook on Climate, Peace and Security Programming in Peace Operations. This guidebook should include learning objectives and content based on rigorous research and understanding of the climate, peace and security nexus as well as the mandates of UN peace operations in Africa. 
  • Provide a guideline within the guidebook on how climate risks could be addressed and included in UN Peace Operations with the aim of sustaining peace and development in the host countries of UN Peace Operations.
  • Develop a presentation and guidelines for the trainer, which explains the flow of the guidebook and provide instructions on how the guidebook will be delivered.

Job Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in peace and security, international relations, political science, environmental sustainability, sustainable development or another related field.
  • PhD is an asset.

Work Experience:

  • 3-5 years’ research experience in climate, peace and security nexus, conflict resolution or another relevant field;
  • Relevant experience in an international/regional organization(s) in areas related to climate change, peace and security, conflict resolution, peacekeeping, or other related fields.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of the interlinkages between climate change, peace and security;
  • Solid knowledge of the UN and AU peace and security architectures;
  • Knowledge of the African context is a must;
  • Excellent research, writing and analytical skills;
  • Curriculum development skills.

Languages:


Language proficiency in both written and oral English is required.
