Camp Chinko is an exclusive 8 bed camp in Chinko Conservation Area. Chinko Conservation Area is managed by the non-profit organization African Parks, on a longterm basis, to protect its wildlife and uplift the surrounding local communities for the ecological, financial and social sustainability of the Conservation Area.
The camp was opened in 2022 and is a first of its kind in Central Africa. The camp received great feedback and has proved very popular being fully booked in advance. The camp is primarily used for High net worth Fly fisherman. Secondly it will be used to entertain African Parks existing or potential donors as well as select private guides and their clients.
The season is relatively short, December – April. The camp can host up to a total of 8 pax with their private guide on a 7-night or 10-night fixed departure rotation.
Fly camping is also offered for guests throughout their stay so that they can experience a different location and mix up their itinerary.
Role and Responsibilities:
The role and responsibilities are wide and varying due to the location and environment. They include but are not limited to the following:
1. Camp Management
- Overall responsibility for the running of the camp to a high standard of service;
- Delivery of a world class catch and release flyfishing and tourism product synonymous with African Parks;
- Management of up to 10 local staff including refresher training and upskilling;
- Daily hosting of the clients in conjunction with the fishing guides, private guides, donor account managers and from time-to-time senior park management;
- Adherence to the Expenditure budget;
2. Logistics
- Movement and setup of Camp Chinko depending on access and water levels;
- Logistics and procurement of camp supplies;
- Liasion with APN Commercial department for trip itineraries;
- In country logistics for guests between Bangui and Chinko;
- Accurate and careful pack up of camp at season end;
3. Reporting
- Monthly expenditure reporting;
- Inventory reports;
- Producing client trip reports;
- Maintaining and improving the CRM records.
4. Reporting Lines
- Operational execution and Logistics: Chinko park manager;
- Product design, delivery and reporting: Head of Commercial development
For the days spent in Camp Chinko (majority of the 4-month period) a comfortable but basic tented accommodation will be provided. When there are no guests in camp accommodation will be provided at Chinko reserve Headquarters at Kocho.
Role requirements:
- A practical, adaptable, enthusiastic and independent manager with extensive guiding, luxury camp and F&B management experience;
- Experience managing a high-end flyfishing operation would be desirable;
- At least 5 years’ experience living and operating in remote safari locations;
- Excellent planning and organizational skills;
- Strong initiative and creativity;
- Team players who share ideas and learning with others;
- Professional with a sense of fun;
- Excellent ability to build and manage relationships with a wide variety of people and cultures;
- Computer literate;
- French fluency.
