African Parks is a non-profit conservation organisation that takes on the complete responsibility for the rehabilitation and long-term management of national parks in partnership with governments and local communities. We currently manage 19 national parks and protected areas in 11 countries covering over 14.1 million hectares in: Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malawi, Mozambique, the Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Job Overview:
The Technology Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Research & Development Director to develop and maintain technologies to support the effective management of the activities implemented by African Parks Congo. The Technology Coordinator will oversee and support the technology office and its implementation of multiple active programmes in the Greater Garamba landscape. The Technology Coordinator will be responsible for providing technical direction, training of staff, and overseeing the maintenance and development of technologies.
Main Roles & Responsibilities:
- React to operational and strategic needs as directed by the park management unit.
- Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Identify problems and implement technological strategic solutions.
- Verify application results by conducting system audits of technologies implemented.
- Preserves assets by implementing recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures.
- Ensure the optimisation and full capacity of existing infrastructure including but not limited to VHF, HF, VSAT, LoRa, GIS, WIFI networks, and various sensors.
- Oversee and support IT and cyberinfrastructure programmes.
- Provide weekly and monthly reports.
- Train and build staff capacity to function effectively as individuals and as a team.

Education and Experience:
- At least five years’ experience in maintaining and developing technologies, preferably with experience working in a national park.
- At least a Master’s Degree in IT or related fields.
- Flexibility, adaptability and creativity to develop innovative solutions to challenging situations.
- Strong verbal and written skills in English.
- Understanding of French will be an advantage.
- Willingness to live in a remote setting and with previous experience living in Africa.
What success looks like:
Implement and maintain a fully functional and effective IT and cyberinfrastructure system.
