EcoPeace Middle East is a unique organization that brings together Jordanian, Palestinian, and Israeli environmentalists. Our primary objective is to promote cooperative efforts to protect our shared environment. Our projects focus on transboundary environmental issues, water security, wastewater and renewable energy, and target youth, local communities, decision-makers, the private sector and the international community.
We are seeking to hire a dynamic and experienced educator to join our team in Tel Aviv as Education Manager.
Job Description:
- Manage and grow EcoPeace's educational programs, including direct responsibility for EcoPeace's school-based activities, teacher-training workshops and activities in informal youth settings
- Manage the ShaRED Sea education program in Eilat; including two local staff people
- Support or lead the development of curriculum of additional education programs, as needed
- Lead and support the Israeli education team in developing work plans, activities and budgets; work with the team to flag, help prevent, and resolve problems, analyze variances, and propose corrective actions; and monitor and report on progress to ensure education program plans are delivered within budget, on time, and meet their objectives
- Contribute to project proposals, donor reports and strategic plans
- Develop and maintain close relationships with schools, teachers, Israeli Ministry of Education officials and informal youth settings
- Maintain ongoing communication with colleagues in Amman and Ramallah to ensure close coordination on regional program components and activities
Requirements:
- At least 3 years' experience in frontal and non-frontal teaching and guiding of youth, adults and teachers, and in the design, planning, running and reporting of educational programs.
- Experience teaching conflict management, diplomacy, environment, Middle Eastern politics, or related fields
- Experience in a similar managerial position, great organization and problem solving skills
- Excellent relationships in the Ministry of Education, youth movements, or other relevant settings and the ability to draw on these relationships to develop the programs
- Strong familiarity and affinity with modern pedagogical approaches and proven active contribution to pedagogical development that includes adapting teaching methods to the prerequisites of different student groups and conditions.
- Team player who enjoys and thrives in a team environment with outstanding collaboration and communication skills (fluent English and Hebrew), great time management and planning skills, positive, creative “can do” attitude and a commitment to excellence
- Experience and affinity working with digital education tools and social media –advantage
- Experience working with Palestinians or Jordanians is an advantage
