This position will be responsible for coordinating the program implementation in remote communities and contributing to the growth and success of the community empowerment around the Lomako-Yokokala Faunal Reserve (LYFR). The Community Enterprise Officer (CO) is a driven, self-sufficient staff member, who excels at training others and coordinating activities, while also critically analyzing the program and providing feedback to senior management.
The position which will be based in Lomako under the supervision of the LYFR and Maringa-Lopori-Wamba (MLW) Landscape Manager, will cover the community aspect of the Arcus Foundation Project in the landscape.
Essential Duties
- Maintain communications with the VE team
- Manage all Business Mentors (BMs) in LYFR landscape, ensuring high-quality Core Program implementation
- Undertake regular field visits (3-4 days a week) to assess training and mentoring by the Business Mentors and overall performance of businesses
- Ensure that businesses started are mentored and carry out at least 6 spot-checks per week to ensure that BMs are doing their job
- Ensure BMs work plans are followed
- Prepare with the supervisor and the BMs bi-weekly meeting and agendas, and ensure they are always updated
- Train BMs on new forms that need to be collected, constantly reinforcing the importance and value of the data we collect and helping BMs troubleshoot issues as needed
- Lead and conduct Induction Training/onboarding for new BMs. This includes working closely with staff to prepare agenda, schedule field visits, prepare materials
- Develop and submit Monthly Reports to the supervisor
- Monitor the collection of the Mentoring Checklist and activity reports
- Support the BMs to register all savings groups
- Fulfil reporting requirements of the project
- Ensure regular internal communications (e.g. through Yammer) and periodic updates through the AWF business engagement team and the Technical Committee
- Facilitate strategic communications teams to share information about the approach in https://panorama.solutions/en
- Support BMs in the implementation of pilots, studies and data collection as needed
- Work with management to arrange field scheduling for visitors
- Coordinate all preparations at the field level
- Assist with the improvement and development of monitoring activities and materials for business mentors
- Ensure that the information from the community engagement work is reported accurately and in a timely manner
- Report monthly to ICCN CoCo through the Conservator
- Ensure that the project also targets the very vulnerable groups of populations, minorities such as pygmies, women and young people
- Ensure that human rights are respected as part of the implementation of the project
Requirements
- A University Degree in Entrepreneurship, Community or Rural Development, or any other related field
- A minimum of 5 years working experience in community conservation
- Familiarity with the context and key issues relating to communities around LYFR
- Good conflict resolution skills
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with a wide range of collaborators
- Ability to appreciate diversity such as gender and youth
- Fluency in French and Lingala or Kimongo
- Knowledge in participative training
- In-depth knowledge of the whole MLW landscape preferred
- Experience working with international NGOs is an added advantage
- MS Word and Excel, Internet/email communication skills
- Ability to pay attention to detail and meet strict deadlines
- Quick learner / Fast adaptor with high level of flexibility
- Willingness to work in remote area
- Commitment to AWF and its mission
