RedR UK is an international NGO and learning provider that trains and supports aid workers, organisations, and communities to prepare for and respond effectively to crises within humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding contexts. The Role
The Intern will provide support to the programmes team, particularly in the administration and logistics of courses and projects in Africa, Southeast Asia, the UK and Latin America. This includes:
- Supporting organisational capacity development of RedR UK partners in Nigeria and Uganda
- Supporting the monitoring and evaluation of projects, programmes and courses, including compiling information on RedR UK’s database Salesforce.
- Contributing to external communication efforts by updating the RedR UK website with information about courses and projects.
- Advertising of courses and enrolling participants on courses (also using Eventbrite)
- Processing expenses, invoices and drafting draft contracts for partners, experts & trainers
- Answering queries about courses to potential participants
- Ensuring certification and badging of participants on courses
- Providing technical assistance on our e-learning platform, Moodle
The intern will gradually receive more and more responsibility as they prove themselves competent in the role. This could include:
- Co-hosting courses on topics such as climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction and shelter in emergencies
- Interviewing and building case studies from participants working in disaster relief around the world
- Building surveys and assessments using SurveyMonkey and analysing the results
- Being the focal point on a project activity or course, taking responsibility over the planning, implementation, reporting and monitoring.
- Other project coordination & management activities as deemed appropriate by the Hub Manager

RedR UK is currently operating a work from home policy due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Interns are responsible for providing everything they need to work from home effectively, and RedR UK will provide a £26 a month stipend as a contribution to internet and electricity costs.
Person Specification
Essential
- Interest in the humanitarian sector and/or Learning and Development
- Administrative skills - Systematic and efficient administrative skills, including an ability to prioritise, manage and complete a variety of tasks against multiple deadlines
- Use of technology – Computer literate and good Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
- Team player – experience of working successfully within a team environment and of building relationships with others
- Communication - Good interpersonal communication skills and self-awareness, able to communicate clearly and effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Language – Fluent in English language (oral & written) and good report writing skills
- Initiative and enthusiasm - Initiative, enthusiasm and a problem-solving approach to new challenges
Desirable
- Qualification – ideally a graduate in a relevant field
- Event management - Experience of supporting a learning programme and organising learning events and working with consultants.
- Language – Fluent in at least on language other than English (oral & written): Spanish, French, Arabic, or Portuguese
