The impacts of climate change can already be felt globally. Especially economically less developed countries will be affected by these impacts. Early action in climate adaptation policy is therefore essential. As an independent think tank and leading policy consultancy for climate, environmental and development policy adelphi supports global partner organisations as part of the technical and financial development cooperation with the conception and implementation of relevant projects. We are searching for someone to independently implement risk assessments, analyse and evaluate adaptation strategies and develop context sensitive solutions. You will lead your interdisciplinary project team with enthusiasm and commitment and intercultural sensitivity and will be responsible for the successful implementation of significant projects with clients such as the GIZ or German development bank KfW.
Your tasks
- Project management: You efficiently manage projects based on your planning and coordination skills (e.g. communication with clients and project partners, steering of external experts, resource and budget planning, event management).
- Conceptual work: Your experience in the cooperation with clients such as the GIZ, the European Commission, the German development bank (KfW) or the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) enables you - as a specialist in your field - to develop concrete implementation concepts for projects and to jointly implement them with project partners in different countries. Furthermore, you contribute to the continuous advancement in the thematic fields of “climate change adaptation” and possibly “urban transformation” and Disaster Risk Reduction within our company.
- Acquisition: You support the team with the acquisition of projects with your contacts to relevant clients and partners. You know how to network with relevant stakeholders in the field of climate change adaptation and provide frequent knowledge exchange. You apply your instinct for the development of different subtopics, e.g. resilient urban infrastructure, to bring new impulses and to further advance different topics.
- Communication of project results: You develop reports, studies and other innovative formats of communication with scientific expertise and sensitivity and intuition towards the information needs of varying stakeholder groups.
Your qualifications
- You have obtained a university degree in a relevant subject, at least 5 years of work experience in the field of climate change adaptation and a pronounced interest in the topics of climate change adaptation and resilience (preferably in an urban context), vulnerability, DRR and loss & damage.
- You have already gained extensive work experience in international development cooperation and have led numerous projects yourself. Additionally, you have experience in the technical and administrative backstopping of international projects.
- You have experience in the preparation of and have already successfully participated in several tenders. Your numerous contacts on the national and international level are highly beneficial.
- You have an excellent level in German and English (oral and written). Command of any other language, especially French and Spanish, is an advantage.
- Your intercultural skills enable you to occasionally travel to project countries.
