Mercy Corps is a global non-governmental, humanitarian aid organization operating in transitional contexts that have undergone, or have been undergoing, various forms of economic, environmental, social and political instabilities.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Develop weekly and monthly work plans with the community mobilizers and volunteers.
- Coordinate with cleaning fund (CF) to assess the target areas regarding to solid waste removal.
- Coordinate with community committee and local cancel to conduct environmental health cleaning campaigns.
- Field supervision of Hygiene promotion campaign in the targeted areas.
- Field supervision of solid waste removal in corporation with CF in Aden and Abyan.
- Carry out spot check visits to ensure volunteer’s work quality under hygiene promotion sub-sector.
- Supervising the labors in the field regarding to environmental health campaign.
- Conduct distribution of environmental health tools in the targeted areas including conducting hand over the tools.
- Set up Community Committees.
- Supervise the recruitment process for hygiene community volunteers.
- Conduct assessments including KAP, baseline and endline surveys.
- Identify target areas and conduct community profiling.
- Develop IEC materials.
- Support the Hygiene Promotion Officer in preparing documents necessary for procurement process.
- Develop distribution plan for hygiene kits if available.
- Supervise the beneficiary selection process with community committee for selecting EH labors.
- Submit field reports and data collected to the MEL team.
- Verify documents for accuracy and obtain further information for incomplete documents.
- Submit update report to the Hygiene Promotion Officer on a weekly basis.
- Work closely with local partners and build their capacity.
- Generate verbal and written translations of pertinent project documentation, as needed.
- Write success stories from the field.
- Contribute to coordination with other organizations implementing relevant activities.
- Document lessons learned and success stories on the project.
- Support gender analysis and integration into all aspects of programming, per Mercy Corps’ Gender Procedures Policy, to ensure programming benefits men and women.
- Identify new needs arising in the project target areas.
- Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
- Work beyond normal office hours as required, without additional compensation.
- Manage the program files (soft and hard copies).
- Any other duties as assigned.
Coordination and Reporting:
- Deliver sound coordination and information sharing and accurate and timely reports are submitted to the relevant local authorities/partners at the district/village level.
- Ensure regular meetings and ongoing coordination with local authorities/partners and community leaders.
- Prepare and mobilize beneficiaries during the 3rd Party Monitoring.
- Ensure timely submission of weekly, monthly and semi-annual donor reports to the WASH Engineer.
- Write and submit progress reports of activity implementation.
- Document lessons learned and success stories on the project.
Security:
- Ensure compliance with security procedures and policies as determined by country leadership.
- Keep his/her supervisor, Security Focal Point and Area Director updated with regard to the security situation in the project implementation area and provide advice as to how to manage our presence in this environment.
- Maintain the highest standards of behavior when working with the project beneficiaries.

Accountability to Beneficiaries:
Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our beneficiaries and to international standards guiding international relief and development work, while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects

Qualifications
Education
Required: Bachelors or better.
Experience
Required:
- Experience designing and implementing training and capacity building
- At least two-year experience in program implementation an international NGO is preferred.
