The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration until 31 August 2021. Taking the security situation into account, travel for work will be required. Employment location will be Bangui, Central African Republic.
The project financed by BMZ-TA supports the revitalization of agricultural production in Ombella-M'poko Prefecture in order to sustainably improve food security and the living conditions of the population in urban areas and to contribute to the stabilization of the socio-economic situation in the region. The project is carried out in accordance with Welthungerhilfe standards and the directives/provisions of the donor to sustainably improve food security and the living conditions of the population in urban areas and to contribute to the stabilization of the socio-economic situation in the region. The focus of the position is to manage and implement the project based on specified directives in terms of content, schedule and budget.
As Head of Project you are responsible for the operative implementation of the project and the appropriate use of funds. Furthermore you are responsible for coordination, planning and implementation, correctly and duly reporting to Welthungerhilfe's country office in Central African Republic.
Your responsibilities
- Carries out the project according to the rules and standards of the co-financing donors and Welthungerhilfe standards for the implementation of projects
- Is responsible for modifying and continuing project planning and the project budget
- Establishes good working relationships with the stakeholders involved in the project
- Reports to the Country Director on the progress of the project and all risks associated with the project work
- Manages project staff according to WHH leadership principles, staff policies and WHH strategy
- Expands WHH network with relevant stakeholders from civil society, government and academia within the context of project in responsibility.
Your profile
- A relevant university / polytechnic degree
- 2 to 5 years' professional experience in project management of complex and large-scale projects
- Experience with project management of different sectors (construction, agriculture)
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- Proven experience of ensuring compliance with donor regulations
- Able to work under high pressure in difficult living and working conditions
- Fast worker, able to deliver high quality reports in the set deadlines
- Fluency in French and ability to communicate in English
- Intercultural competence and ability to work in a team
- Disciplinary leadership of staff
