A bill seeking for the allocation of five percent of the rights and interest in each petroleum block has been introduced at the Liberian Senate. The bill was introduced Tuesday by Grand Kru County Senator Albert T. Chea. In his communication to Plenary, Senator Chie said Liberia has a high potential for petroleum resources in its offshore area. Senator Chie who chairs the Senate Committee on Lands, Mines and Energy, told his colleagues that the current wave of intense exploration activities could lead to the discovery of oil and gas in Liberia.
