Liberians across the divide are still wondering why a US$30 million mechanized rice production project which was dubbed a rescue for a country heavily reliant on importation of its staple food rice is at a standstill despite the importation of sophisticated farming machineries which according to the Chairman of the company is worth more than US$22 million. Liberia imports nearly all agricultural products consumed locally and rice is imported from Asia in spite of a fertile land for agriculture.
