Environmental Peacebuilding Announces Logo Contest Results

Dec 9, 2014 | ELI, UNEP, McGill University & University of Tokyo

The Environmental Law Institute, United Nations Environment Programme, McGill University, and the University of Tokyo are pleased to announce the adoption of a new logo for the Environmental Peacebuilding Knowledge Platform and Community of Practice.

The new logo design visually represents the concept of environmental peacebuilding, which integrates natural resource management in conflict prevention, mitigation, resolution, and recovery to build resilience in communities affected by conflict. The design features a dove, the internationally recognized symbol of peace, surrounded by a spiral that represents a process of growth and change. The logo also combines the letters ā€œeā€ and ā€œpā€, providing a visual identity for the Environmental Peacebuilding initiative that will be used online and in print.

The final logo design was chosen after a public logo design contest that received original submissions from around the world over the course of two months. The partners were inspired by the many creative, thought-provoking designs that were submitted, and are grateful for the effort displayed by all of the designers. The figure below captures the various submissions.

The winning logo was designed by Claudia Zimerman. Designs were also submitted by Christian Amaral, Jensen Anderson, Kayla Byrne, Elnatan Cahyo, Julio Cesar, Kyle Collins, Alistair Craig, Sreekanth D., Ariel Djomakon, Cesar Gomez, Courtney Greenley, Christopher Hagens, Christian Maduka, Tirtadwipa Manunggal, Mirabella Ozerova, and Patrick Woolsey.
