IFRO carries out pure, applied, and private-sector oriented social science research, education and public-sector services, with key focus areas in the fields of economics, sociology and ethics. We work within our own disciplines and interdisciplinary at an international and national level.
Relevant thematic areas of research:
Environment and natural resources, which includes the economic regulation and valuation of the environment and of natural resources, energy economics, environmental sociology, governance, conflict resolution, environmental, natural resource and climate change related policy, regulation, forest management, landscape and fisheries, biodiversity, ecosystems, bioeconomics, and environmental ethics.
Global development, which includes development economics and policy, political economy, governance problems, measuring the effectiveness of development assistance, the alleviation of poverty, living conditions, the impact of climate change and ways to adapt to it, natural resource management, and conflict resolution.
