Business, Peace and Sustainable Development (BPSD) is a peer-reviewed, online journal that explores the role of the business sector in enhancing peace, reducing violence and contributing to sustainable development, the importance of peace to the economy and markets, and the theories and practice of Corporate Peace.
Peace is the absence of violence, but it also incorporates social justice, human rights, stability and sustainable development. Without peace we will be unable to achieve the levels of cooperation, inclusiveness and social equity necessary to address the global challenges facing humanity today. Corporate Peace is defined as the incorporation of peace and reduction of violence into a company’s strategy, decision-making and the value chain in order to raise awareness to peace, support and enhance it. Corporate Peace is an umbrella concept that contains business, social and strategic dimensions. Companies, through their power, knowledge, financial and other resources can have a tremendous impact on the peacefulness of our world. Through the resources they control and people they employ, corporations possess real economic and political power and have the ability to significantly impact the natural environment as well as the political one. Businesses can create the conditions needed for peace and can contribute to the reduction of violence locally, nationally, and globally. The role of this journal is to promote the discussion on business and peace, and publish innovative and rigorous interdisciplinary research on the mutual relationship of business and peace: empirical studies, theories, cases and tools. We welcome submissions for forthcoming issues of the journal. Submit your paperPapers of between 3,000 and 10,000 words are invited for double-blind peer review.Contributions are also invited for BPSD’s ‘Peace Dialogues’ section, which publishes in each issue and provides a space for viewpoints, case studies, responses to previous papers, sharing work in progress and more.
