The Public-Private Alliance for Responsible Minerals Trade (PPA) is a joint initiative among governments, companies, and civil society to support supply chain solutions to responsible minerals challenges and opportunities - relating to tin, tantalum, tungsten, and gold (3TG) - in the Great Lakes Region (GLR) of Central Africa. The PPA supports actions to address conflict mineral concerns while delivering solutions that benefit those involved in responsible minerals trade in the GLR. PPA activities and funding has enabled essential research, pilot programs, and support to organizations working within the region, with the ultimate goal of producing scalable, self-sustaining systems, to demonstrate a fully traced and validated supply chain in a way that is credible to companies, civil society, and government. The PPA also provides a platform for coordinated, collaborative problem solving and dialogue among government, industry, and civil society.

In 2019, the PPA is exploring the potential to leverage small grants (~$20,000-$50,000) to support strategic interventions that can meaningfully transform in-region capacity on key issues by a) creating “connective tissue” between organizations who are doing complementary work; b) developing pathways for increased coordination between such organizations; c) supporting publication/dissemination or replicable tools, training curricula, or other approaches that work and could be adapted and used at low or no cost by other organizations, once developed with the grant.

THIS IS NOT A CALL FOR PROPOSALS. Rather the PPA has identified nine critical issues and is now seeking stakeholder input to prioritize and further scope objectives for a subsequent funding opportunity (likely late 2019).

Those who complete this survey will also have the opportunity to sign up to receive notifications of later funding opportunities.

The PPA does not accept unsolicited proposals; please do not send any proposals at this time as they will not be reviewed.
