The transboundary nature and limited nature of water resources in Central Asia makes water a key resource that largely determines the further development of the region.

Climate change, population growth and increased demand for water have mixed effects on the water, food and energy security of the countries of Central Asia. That is why cooperation in these areas is a common concern to ensure stability in the region.
