Buddhism in the Mekong Area: History and Development

The conference will be held by the HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanity and the Viet Nam Buddhism Research Institute.

The conference will attract domestic and international scientists, managers, Buddhism researchers from different countries such as the US, China, India, and Thailand, in addition to Myanmar and Cambodia.

Associate Professor Vo Van Sen, principal of the HCM City University of Social Sciences and Humanity, said that the conference aimed at creating global awareness about peace, environmental security and sustainable development in the Mekong area, and contributing to the international co-operation in economy, culture, environmental protection, and maintaining countries' cultural heritages based on the United Nations' Millennium Development Goal.

During the conference, researchers will discuss about reaching an agreement on several issues such as risks related to the ecological environment in the Mekong area.
