The Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda has become a critical aspect of the international community’s efforts to promote global peace and security. As the world continues to face complex challenges, it has become increasingly clear that women must play a vital role in building and sustaining international peace and security. However, the practical policy implementation of the WPS agenda falls short of its stated goals. Understanding the multitude of roles that women play in conflict and considering how their experiences should inform the construction of peace and security policy and discourse is vital to addressing this issue.

This debate will showcase the different roles female leaders have played in keeping and building peace, shedding light on the existing implementation gaps and obstacles that must be overcome.

The event will launch Friends of Europe’s Women Thought Leadership Network — a multi-generational and international network of women with various experiences and capacities brought together to share knowledge and collaborate on better ways to approach peace and security. The group aims to give voice to the diverse experiences of women in conflict and streamline this knowledge and experience into gender-sensitive recommendations for peacebuilding, conflict resolution, diplomacy, and security policy and practices.

This event will take place in Brussels. Follow us on TwitterLinkedInInstagram or Facebook, and join the #FoEDebate!
