As climate change becomes more pronounced and visible, its impacts are complicating the lives and livelihoods of hundreds of millions of people. This includes mushrooming security risks as climate shocks add to, and in some instances, help trigger violence. But despite the debilitating nature of these challenges, media coverage of the conflict, climate, and environment nexus remains insufficient and/or un-nuanced and over-sensationalist at times. This panel discussion will look to explain the importance of an emergent field, and shed some light on how journalists ought to accurately and effectively cover a beat that will only grow in profile and importance over the coming years. Through a broad and diverse range of speakers from different geographies and slightly different though relevant backgrounds, this panel will highlight the context of climate, environment and security risks, provide an overview of relevant tools and visualisations for stories, and dive into specific conflict-climate examples from the Middle East to Asia. Speakers: Karolina Eklow, Stockholm International Peace Research InstituteMaya Gebeily, Middle East correspondent, Thomson Reuters FoundationPeter Schwartzstein, Center for Climate and SecurityWim Zwijenburg, Humanitarian disarmament project leader, PAX When: 14:00 - 15:00,  Saturday 9/04/2022
