This event is an online discussion with representatives of EkoBiH, an informal group that gathers individuals and community organizations across Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose daily work is a testament to building social cohesion and trust around shared goals, regardless of ethnic background and despite the complex administrative set-up and environmental governance landscape in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Representatives of the group who will be present at the event hail from many different parts of the country and include:
- Tihomir Dakic, President, Center for Environment (Banja Luka)
- Emina Veljovic, Aarhus Center in BiH, Sarajevo
- Majda Bilal, Women of Kruscica (Vitez), Recipient of this year's Goldman Environmental Prize
The discussion will focus on concrete examples of how these actors support each other and small community organizations with legal advice regarding access to environmental information, participation, and access to justice in environmental issues. The event aims to shed more light on the vibrant and constructive work done by environmental organizations in a country which continues to experience ethnic-based discrimination in education and representation twenty five years after a devastating war.
