"In a new special issue of International Affairs, contributors illustrate the value of environmental peacebuilding both as an integrative research field and as a practice for furthering peace, sustainability, and development globally. Please join the Wilson Center’s Environmental Change and Security Program, with co-sponsor, Environmental Law Institute, for special presentations from contributors to the special issue followed by a discussion on how the field of environmental peacebuilding is evolving."

"Perceptions around the connections between the environment, conflict, and peace have shifted over past decades. Scholarly literature focused on these connections has moved from conflict-centered environmental security to a more nuanced approach that addresses both the environmental risks of conflict and the environmental opportunities for peace. The field of environmental peacebuilding subsequently emerged, comprising multi-sectoral approaches and pathways to understanding and managing the environment’s connection to conflict prevention, mitigation, resolution, and recovery. As the world faces the complex consequences of a changing environment, environmental peacebuilding not only advances academic debates on the environment, peace, and conflict, but could provide insights for decision-makers striving to achieve a more peaceful and sustainable world."
