Environmental peacebuilding is an emerging field that looks to integrate the knowledge and practices of numerous disciplines like political science, environmental science, peace and conflict studies, or ecology. Well before Western academic disciplines became aware of the deep linkages between peace and the environment, many Indigenous cultures recognized and practiced their own forms of environmental peacebuilding. During this highly participatory, virtual event, we hope to inspire new conversations in environmental peacebuilding through an exploration of decolonial and Indigenous approaches. Our speakers include Dr. Diana Arbelaez-Ruiz, Dr. Theresa “Isa” Arriola, and Dr. Elaine (Lan Yin) Hsiao.
