Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the anticipated USAID Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Eastern Congo Agricultural Value Chain Project. This project aims to improve livelihoods for agricultural communities in North Kivu, South Kivu, and Katanga provinces by creating inclusive growth, improving food security, and supporting women and youth within a five-year period. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide leadership, technical direction, and management oversight for all project activities and results
- Serve as the project's primary liaison with USAID, the DRC government, and international and local partners
- Manage, mentor, and develop a high performance team of international and local technical and administrative staff
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (international development, agriculture, economics, etc.) required; advanced degree preferred
- 10 years of professional experience working on agricultural development or related programs
- Experience as a chief of party managing agricultural development programs with a value chain focus in an African context preferred
- Familiarity with market systems development, including such aspects as finance, input supply, output markets, extension, and access to knowledge
- Experience addressing gender and youth issues related to expected outcomes, as well as expertise developing programming that enables the inclusion of women and youth in market systems development
- Familiarity with USAID rules and regulations and experience in budgeting, procurement, and financial management
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Proficiency in English and French
